Following being axed from the team against Hoffenheim on Saturday following a disappointing performance against Club Brugge in the Champions League, Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mario Gotze has been advised to join Liverpool.
Gotze, 26, has been on a steep decline since he was hailed as one of the most promising players in the sport, struggling with constant injury and illness issues which have prevented him from finding a groove under four different coaches.
Gotze may find an opportunity to revive his once promising career, and has admitted that the criticism he has received as bothered him.
“I am just not able to block it out,” Gotze said of the criticism, according to Kicker.
“Maybe it’ll do him a world of good to leave Bundesliga in the winter, move abroad where it’s all a bit quieter and where he knock his career into shape again,” Gotze’s former Dortmund and Germany teammate Kevin Grosskreutz said, according to Sky Sports.
“Jurgen Klopp knows him well. He’d be a good fit at Liverpool.”
