Atlanta United’s Josef Martinez ties MLS record With 27th Goal

Atlanta United’s Josef Martinez matched the Major League Soccer record for goals in a season with nine games remaining, scoring his 27th goal of the year during a match on Sunday.

Martinez should shatter the record, originally set by Roy Lassiter in the inaugural MLS season back in 1996 and matched by Chris Wondolowski  back in 2012, and again by Bradley Wright-Phillips in 2014.

Martinez will have 9 games to set a new mark, with his first coming on Friday at Orlando City.
