Mexico international Guillermo Ochoa is closing in on a move to Napoli, according to club president Aurelio de Laurentiis (h/t ESPN FC).
De Laruentiis discussed the club’s interest in Ochoa earlier this week and the rule that restricts each Serie A club to only three non-European Union players, which potentially threatens deals to bring Ochoa and PSV Windhoven full-back Santiago Arias to the club.
The club reportedly is eyeing France-born Bordeaux full-back Youssouf Sabaly.
“We have the problem of Non-EU [players],” De Laurentiis said, during an appearance on Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli. “If we get Ochoa, we need to forget about signing Arias and pursue Sabaly, who has the advantage of being able to play on the right and left.”
According to the Record (Mexico), the Standard Liege had received a formal offer from Napoli of between “€3-4 million”.
