Arsene Wenger has responded to rumors that have connected him to the job at Real Madrid, saying that he is unsure that he has the desire to take on, what he calls, a “totally crazy challenge.”
Wenger isn’t the only coach linked to the opening at Real Madrid as Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, Germany boss Joachim Low, Juventus’ Max Allegri and Real Madrid’s under-18s coach, Guti, have all been mentioned as well.
“It’s the question I’m going to have to answer in the next two weeks,” Wenger said, according to Telefoot. “Do I still have the desire to be a coach? Yes. Do I have still have the desire to throw myself into a totally crazy challenge? I don’t know. It’s a job that requires total commitment. I need to take a step back, which is something I have never done.
“Firstly, I’ll have to see how much I miss not being a coach, how I’ll live with the lack of adrenalin that comes with my job. Football, being able to influence a football match, experiencing some great games, having those few seconds of joy after a game when everything has gone well, the fact of sharing emotions with others, that’s what it is.”
