Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino Says ‘When Real Madrid call, you have to listen’

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino admits that he would listen to an offer from Real Madrid regarding their managerial job but says that he is happy and committed to his current gig.

“When Real Madrid call you, you have to listen to them,” Pochettino said (h/t ESPNFC). “In this case it does not depend on me.

“I have just signed a long contract with Tottenham, and am happy here. There will be lots of rumours and many things said, but I have heard nothing from Real Madrid.”

“I like it a lot at Tottenham as they let me work and we are growing together,” Pochettino said. “Now I want to focus on planning for next season, and keep myself a bit away from all that is being said.”

Pochettino signed a new long-term deal last week with Tottenham but the deal does nto contain any clause that would release him to move to Real Madrid at this point.

Pochettino denied a suggestion that taking over for the recently departed Zinedine Zidane would take bravery.

“No, just the opposite. Whoever has the chance to take this job will do their own analysis. We are talking about one of the best teams in football history.”
